R.B. Stall High School is committed to serving the students, families, and community of North Charleston. Our vision to be an innovative learning community that inspires all to build a better future is complemented by the expectations set forth in the Profile of a South Carolina Graduate. R.B. Stall High School is committed to combining World-Class Knowledge and Skills with Life and Career Characteristics to produce graduates that are well prepared to enter into college or begin their career.
R.B. Stall High School was recognized for the fourth year as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School. Students experience the daily practice of engagement, affirmation, and respect that comes through personal relationships with teachers and peers. These connections develop a culture within the school and classroom that fosters collaboration and mutual respect. The ability to understand individual perspectives and appreciate varying points of view are critical for our students to be able to graduate prepared to engage in authentic collaboration.
Critical thinking is also emphasized to help students reach their academic goals. Our focus on rigor in all classrooms develops students with the highest levels of academic readiness. Students are challenged to demonstrate college readiness by enrolling in one of 13 Advanced Placement courses offered at R.B. Stall High School. Students are also challenged to think critically while participating in authentic work-based learning experiences. Our students have opportunities to participate in school-based enterprises in the areas of Marketing, Digital Art and Design, and Finance with our school-based branch of Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union. Students also experience exceptional learning opportunities off-campus through internships and apprenticeships in a variety of STEM career-fields.
The Life and Career Characteristics that we continued to focus on this year were the areas of work ethic and social skills. In addition to our academic standards, teachers also assessed every student’s proficiency in these areas on student report cards. Athletics, JROTC, Student Government, Band, Chorus, Steel Drums and various other clubs and service organizations allow our students even more opportunities for our students to develop these characteristics.
The 1:1 technology resources available to our students allowed them to have technology at their fingertips at all times within the building. This enabled us to nimbly pivot during the COVID-19 school closure to an at-home, virtual learning environment utilizing Google Classroom and Edgenuity. We continued to deliver meaningful content to students throughout the school year and summer. Regardless of challenges that may be presented to us over the course of the 2020-2021 school year, we are confident that as a school we will be prepared to meet the needs of all our learners.
R.B. Stall High School will continue to provide each student with access to technology resources and a competent and caring faculty and staff to meet their academic and social-emotional needs. This allows us to achieve our goal of producing South Carolina graduates with both World Class Knowledge and Skills and Life and Career Characteristics.
